FDIC Compliance

FDIC regulations require automatic sign-in signage and configurable disclosures and speed bumps to allow end users to easily identify covered accounts and services within their online and mobile banking experience.

  • Sign-In Screen Signage: The official FDIC logo and guarantee statement should appear on login screens to confirm FDIC coverage for insured deposit accounts. Automatically rendered official FDIC digital signage is available for Banno Mobile (v3.39+) and Banno Online for FDIC-insured institutions.
  • External Navigation Notices: Selecting links or tools that lead to third-party non-deposit services should open a brief notification before the user transitions out of insured banking areas. For more information about configuring external speed bumps, navigate to the Display notice before opening external application section on the External Applications page.
  • Non-Deposit Account Disclaimers: When viewing non-deposit accounts (such as brokerage or investment accounts), account detail pages should display the standard disclosure: “Not FDIC insured; no bank guarantee; may lose value.”

For users, these FDIC feature enhancements ensure full regulatory compliance while preventing friction during standard day-to-day banking workflows. Plus, there’s no accountholder enrollment or onboarding journey involved - compliance signage and non-deposit disclosures render automatically upon deployment or administrative rule publication without requiring user opt-in or terms acceptance of any kind.

The FDIC compliance settings in Banno People allow financial institutions to configure account-level signage and non-deposit insurance disclosures to meet regulatory standards. Through these settings, administrators with the Manage deposit insurance display permission can designate which core account types display uninsured product disclosures across Banno digital banking applications.

On the FDIC compliance screen, the institution’s core account types (represented by letters or numbers) are organized under five Banno account categories:

  • Debt
  • Deposit
  • Investment
  • Line of Credit
  • Other

For each listed core account type, select one of the following signage display options:

No notice displayed
Displays no additional disclosure notice for accounts under this core type. This setting is the default.
Display uninsured disclosure
Displays the non-deposit product disclosure notice on account detail views: Not FDIC insured; no bank guarantee; may lose value.

The administrator must click Save on each section to ensure their updates are reflected in Banno apps.
