FAQ: Set Up and Eligibility
- Is there a process for financial institutions to set up demo environments for Tap2Local?
- A demo environment for Tap2Local is slightly complex because demos require real money movement. If there are specific businesses you work with, or if an employee has a business, we can enable a specific account with Tap2Local. This will allow the financial institution to see how the service operates within their instance. Open a support case to request this enablement in the For Clients Portal.
- What should a financial institution do if an accountholder is not seeing the option to use Tap2Local?
- If an accountholder is not seeing the option to use Tap2Local, validate that the accountholder has the following fields populated on their CIF record:
- Address Line 1
- City
- State Or Province
- Postal Code
- Phone Number
- Tax ID
If any of these data points are missing, they’ll need to be populated on the accountholder’s CIF record in order to be pulled into Banno and utilized to decide if the accountholder should see the option to enroll.
- If a business is denied, is there an appeal process?
- If a merchant is rejected, they may appeal the decision by sending an inquiry to help@moov.io. However, merchants operating in prohibited industries or posing a high chargeback risk will not be eligible for approval.
- What should a financial institution do if it has exclusivity concerns relating to another product or service?
- Exclusivity clauses in contracts are commonly limited in scope to products or services available from the provider. This scope limitation typically means:
- The financial institution cannot obtain a service from a third-party if that same service is from the provider
- The financial institution can obtain a service from a third-party if the same service is NOT available from the provider.
The Tap2Local services available through Jack Henry and Moov are not available from any other processors today. While Jack Henry cannot provide legal advice on any existing processing relationship in place, consider reviewing any processor documentation with these points in mind. Financial institutions interested in Tap2Local with more questions around exclusivity agreements can open a case via the For Clients Portal.
- Can the financial institution enter the application information for Tap2Local instead of the accountholder?
- Only owners or controllers of the business may enter into a merchant services agreement with Moov. The financial institution cannot enroll a business directly. The business user must validate all necessary information, including legitimate business status and ownership. The financial institution can, however, sit with the customer and help them if they are at the branch.
- Are there revenue share opportunities for financial institutions?
- Yes, more information is available on the Knowledge Base.
FAQ: Payments, Fees, and Settlement
- How much will this cost financial institutions?
- Tap2Local will come at no cost and low lift to financial institutions. However, end users will incur market-competitive fees. Please note that these fees are subject to change over time.
Fee Amount In person completed card payment fee 2.60% + $0.15 Online completed card payment fee and invoicing 2.90% + $0.30 International card payments 1% Card account update fee $0.25 Dispute fee $15.00 Completed RTP transaction fee $0.30 - When a transaction settles, is it a single line item with fees already deducted, or are there two separate line items: one for the full amount and one for the fee?
- The settlement that hits the checking account is a single, net line item with fees already taken out. The accountholder can view the specific fees per transaction within the app.
- Can the payment link or QR code options be used for recurring payments in addition to one-time payments?
- The payment link can be used as many times as desired, so a single link can be used repeatedly for donations or other ongoing payments. However, as of today, there is no functionality to schedule a recurring payment automatically.

FAQ: Compliance and Support
- Where can we find due diligence documentation?
- We’ve created comprehensive due diligence documents. To explore the full Tap2Local Due Diligence Documentation, please open a support case for the password. In addition, Moov has created a Trust Center where financial institutions can access Moov’s due diligence documentation.
- Who is the first line of support?
- Moov will provide first-line support for anything coming from the merchant. To limit call volume for disputes that must be escalated, we will leverage Banno Conversations™ to ensure financial institutions’ in-house support teams can manage disputes promptly and effectively.
The financial institution is expected to provide second-line support for merchant disputes that cannot be fully resolved by Moov’s first-line support team. Moov will handle initial merchant inquiries and disputes directly within the app. Their team will attempt to resolve common issues, answer questions, and provide guidance to merchants as the first point of contact. They can be reached at help@moov.io or 1(855) 977-MOOV / 1-855-977-6668.
- How will information be provided to Moov?
- End-user data is provided to Moov via secure API integration with Jack Henry. Information from the financial institution is provided directly to Moov via Moov’s secure web portal, the Moov Dashboard.
- Are we required to update our disclosures in order to use Tap2Local?
- While not strictly required, many financial institutions choose to add product-specific disclosures to the institution-managed portion of their End User License Agreement (EULA).
FAQ: Misc: Requirements, Functionality, and Experience
- Can merchants access reporting and analytics on their payment activity through our digital banking platform?
- Absolutely. The merchant overview serves as a snapshot of daily sales activities and the latest payments they’ve accepted. A quick tap of items in the Activity list lets them review details of every transaction, including any attempted payments that failed or were canceled.
- Can Tap2Local work alongside a financial institution’s current Merchant Acquiring system?
- Yes! In fact, we actually expect that many small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) will use more than one provider for accepting payments and meeting this need is imperative.
To read more about exclusivity clauses and considerations, refer to the Tap2Local Knowledge Base page.
- Are real-time payments (RTP) required to support Tap2Local?
- No, RTP is not required to use Tap2Local, it works over traditional card networks. However, we do recommend RTP for an enhanced experience, particularly for SMB customers.
RTP can provide faster settlement windows, allowing funds to move more quickly so both the financial institution and the SMB can access their money sooner.
- Are there plans to support FedNow in the future?
- While there are no immediate plans to support FedNow, it remains on our radar for future consideration. For now, we recommend RTP as it offers broader adoption and greater flexibility for real-time payments.
- Will Tap2Local be available for Treasury Management?
- In short, yes. Tap2Local is a software development kit (SDK) that can be deployed across multiple platforms. Banno and Treasury customers will receive this functionality, with no additional cost or lift. We will be announcing support for our Treasury customers soon!
- Is there a way for a financial institution to view the list of enrolled Tap2Local merchants and access their processing volume details?
- Reporting is available within the Dashboard. This provides information about which merchants are processing and their transaction volumes. If the financial institution participates in revenue share for Tap2Local, merchant-by-merchant volume details will be visible on a quarterly basis.
- Do you need Banno Business to get access to Tap2Local?
- No, Banno Business is not required. However, there will be some user-permissioning limitations for customers without it. With this approach it allows us to have high grade support for sole proprietors running businesses on their retail accounts.
If the bank or credit union is contracted for Banno Business, granular access can be established.
Retail customers will not be able to provide granular permissioning. The admin will have the same permissions as all of the users associated with the business
- How does Tap2Local fit within the existing Banno Integration ecosystem, with tools such as Autobooks?
- Tap2Local, powered by Moov, is embedded directly into the Banno platform, eliminating the need for third-party logins or external apps. As a fully native solution, it places the financial institution at the heart of the merchant-customer payment relationship. Business users can accept, store, send, and spend funds – all within their digital banking experience. This
seamless integration not only simplifies operations but also strengthens engagement and loyalty between financial institutions and their business customers.
Autobooks, on the other hand, functions as a third-party plugin designed to meet the needs of business owners who require more comprehensive financial tools. In addition to payment acceptance, Autobooks offers invoicing, bookkeeping, financial reporting, and customer management – making it well-suited for businesses with more complex back-office needs.
Offering both Tap2Local and Autobooks allows financial institutions to meet a full spectrum of small business needs
