Remote deposit capture (RDC)
Because everyone is always on the go, having the option to deposit checks digitally from anywhere is essential. Remote deposit lets end users take pictures of the front and back of checks to make deposits. End users can also view the status of the check deposits. Institutions can enable remote deposit, enroll accounts, and determine limits in Banno People.
Deposit checks
- Remote deposits
- Make a deposit
When making a deposit, end users will see their Deposit limits details displayed so they can see at a glance how many deposits they can make each day and month, as well as the number of deposits they’ve made during the current period.
End users can capture and upload check images easily so that they don’t have to go to a bank or ATM to make a deposit. Taking a picture of the front and back of the check allows the funds to be digitally deposited. When making a deposit, end users will see their Deposit limits details displayed so they can see at a glance how many deposits they can make each day and month, as well as the number of deposits they’ve made during the current period. This information helps end users know if they exceed RDC velocity limits, and it can’t be removed from displaying in the app.
Remote deposit enrollment
- Remote deposits
- Enroll today
To deposit checks in the app, end users must enroll an account. If there are eligible accounts, end users can select an account to enroll. If they don’t have eligible accounts, they are directed to contact your institution.
The enrolled accounts card shows a list of enrolled accounts and their statuses. Once an account has an Enrolled status, end users can start depositing checks into that account. End users can select Enroll another account to enroll additional accounts to deposit checks. When all eligible accounts are enrolled, the option to enroll another is removed.
View deposited check images
- Remote deposits
- View all/Select a deposit item
Remote deposit lets end users see previously deposited check images. Selecting an individual deposit displays the amount, the account it was deposited into, the date it was submitted, as well as the front and back of the check images. A list of five recent deposits and their current statuses (Accepted, Processing, or Rejected) appear on the dashboard. View all shows all deposits. Voided is not a status shown today.
For check images to display in Banno Apps, the vendor needs to have the images and Banno Apps must have the transaction history visible. If Banno Apps has the transaction history, but the vendor removed the image from their system, Banno Apps can’t display the image. If the image exists in the vendor’s system, but the transaction isn’t visible in Banno Apps, we can’t display the image. For more information, ask your vendor how long they store images.
For check deposits made at an institution, Banno Apps display any image that exists within a given vendor’s system—so long as the values used to search for images are populated and accurate within the core. Values used include amount
, MICR account number
, and date posted
. If the institution employee that deposits the check populates the values in the transaction record in the core, Banno uses those values to search the check image vendor’s database. Also, the check images must be sent to the vendor for Banno Apps to be able to display them.
Check image providers
Although your RDC provider has the majority of answers to your questions, here are some details pertaining to Banno Apps.

Within Banno’s Ensenta integration, an end user can add up to 20 checks in a single batch deposit. They can deposit checks with either Banno Mobile app or with their desktop camera in Banno Online.
